The Podcast Tour Wars: The Highlights from Harris, Duds from Donald

Among male voters, what’s worked and what hasn’t for Harris and Trump on their tour of non-traditional media

October 23, 2024

A lot of tweets have been typed and ink spilled on Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump’s foray into the world of podcasts and non-traditional media. So we at Blueprint broke down what both candidates have been saying to men of the pod (and radio), so see what is resonating with male voters (and what isn’t).

To do so, as part of our latest poll of male voters, Blueprint conducted a MaxDiff analysis—a survey method in which respondents are asked to choose their preferred option among two randomized items—of quotes from Harris’s appearances on “All the Smoke” and “the Howard Stern Show,” as well as former  Trump’s appearances on “This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von” and Lex Fridman’s podcast.

Here’s what we found.

ABOUT THE POLL

The first MaxDiff comes from a national survey of 1,348 male registered voters nationally, including an oversample of 611 young male voters (18-29). It was conducted from Oct. 9 to Oct. 13. This survey was weighted to education, gender, race, survey engagement, and 2020 election results; it was conducted in English, and had a margin of error of ±2.2 percentage points.
